It sounds bad reading that but it's actually fantastic, because it makes it a million times easier when using small precise movements to click on small buttons or items in the game. I mentioned this to a previous reply, but the TrackPad for the mouse really feels great after I've cranked the sensitivity almost all the way down, then set acceleration to it's highest setting. This is literally the only time where I find it a bit of a bother to play on the Steam Deck. The only time it's a bother to me playing on the Steam Deck is when I need a keyboard to search for items. I have just about no experience with the game before the Steam version, and I don't have keyboard keys committed to memory. Since the game doesn't (and may not ever) have Steam cloud saves I've almost excusively played it on the Steam Deck. I'll answer your question with another question: Have you played DF before the Steam version or do you have the keyboard hotkeys committed to memory? I've spent possibly a combined 8-10 hours of time tweaking and polishing it. Now I don't think anything unintended (or confusing) happens due to the game's hotkey overlap. It may appear messy, but in practice it's slick. I've updated the image link because I made a lot of tweaks to polish it. For example, if you press D-Pad Up for Dig you don't need to then press the left trigger (right click) before you hit D-Pad Right for Chop.
